This Work Is Personal
We are a team of educators, researchers, wellness practitioners, and youth advocates.
We’ve lived first-hand the challenges of making change and keeping our humanity within entrenched cultures and institutions that don’t always live up to our shared ideals. We each come to this work with our own deep-felt experiences of connection and alienation within our educational systems.
Kids go through so much. Most of it is related to circumstances NOT of their own making.
It is our responsibility, as adults, to make sure our practice and systems are serving all kids. Sometimes that means getting over ourselves and uprooting our patterns so we can show up for young people. After decades in educational and human services organizations, we came together to support each other and our extended network of colleagues to live this inside-out call to change.

Our founder, Dr. Kendra Fehrer, started Heartwise Learning to bring together heart-felt educators and practitioners to support transformational efforts in educational ecosystems.
